I want to sincerely thank the members of LARC for your posts to the
yahoo group regarding the passing of my father. The family is doing
well considering,My employer has given me some time off to take care
things and they have all been very compassionate in my this difficult
time. I am returning to work thursday 16th, We have had a lot of
family and friends over and there are several neighbors who are
stopping by daily to check up on Mom, She is a strong ol' girl and she
still has her health, My Dad was a great Father and husband, provided
for us exceptionally well and was always there to help others, He will
be truly missed by many. Thats all I can say for now, writing this has
been difficult.

Guard are co-sponsoring the annual 
Military/Amateur Radio Crossband Communications 
Test in celebration of the 58th anniversary of 
Armed Forces Day

Although the actual Armed Forces Day is 
celebrated on the third Saturday in May -- May 17 
in 2008 -- the AFD Military/Amateur Crossband 
Communications Test will be conducted on May 10 
to prevent conflict with the

The annual celebration features traditional 
military to amateur crossband communications SSB 
voice tests and copying the Secretary of Defense 
message via digital modes. These tests give 
Amateur Radio operators and short wave listeners 
an opportunity to demonstrate their individual 
technical skills and to receive recognition from 
the Secretary of Defense and/or the appropriate 
military radio station for their proven 
expertise. QSL cards will be provided to those 
stations making contact with the military 
stations. Special commemorative certificates will 
be awarded to anyone who receives and copies the 
digital Armed Forces Day message from the Secretary of Defense.

Military-to-Amateur crossband operations will 
take place on the dates and time in UTC on the 
frequencies listed for each station on the Army 
MARS Web site. Voice contacts will include 
operations in single sideband voice (SSB). Some 
stations, depending on propagation and manning, 
may not operate the entire period. Participating 
military stations will transmit on selected 
Military MARS frequencies and listen for Amateur 
Radio stations in the Amateur bands. The military 
station operator will announce the specific 
amateur band frequency being monitored. Duration 
of each voice contact should be limited to 1-2 minutes.

One of the ways the hundreds of riders at next weekend's Central Florida
BikeMS Event will know to get from Cypress Gardens to Sea World will be to
follow the colored arrows that will be painted on the course.  This "trail
of bread crumbs" will direct the riders to follow the path to the Finish
Line each day.
 
We will be painting the course this Saturday, April 20th, beginning at 8:00

Hey folks,

If you have time and the ability to join us on Saturday morning for
the annual March of Dimes "March for Babies" then I urge you to come
out and operate with us.  We will have a live APRS tracking station at
the tail end so that we can track the status of the walkers and their
position in near-real-time.  This will be a direct transmission of
APRS data over a non-standard frequency, with a moderately high rate
of position updates, received by a 2m station at March Control and
plotted on a laptop PC.  Come on out and see it in action, it will be
great to see you there!
