Subject: [VOIP-WXNET] VoIPWXNet Email List Information/WX4NHC Communications
Test Announced

Hello to all....

As we prepare for the 2008 Hurricane Season, I wanted to make a
couple comments about the VoIPWXNet email list and also announce the
WX4NHC Communications Test. This has been sent as a special notice to
those members of the email list who will only receive emails when it
is sent as a special notice by the moderator.

The VoIPWXNet email list is our main way to push announcements for
Communications Tests, exercises, VoIP Hurricane Net activation
notices, announce tropical systems as they form and they're potential
threat and to discuss the usage of EchoLink/IRLP/VoIP modes for
hurricanes, weather related incidents and similar disaster related
incidents. We would like to encourage folks, particularly in
hurricane prone areas who may just have this list set to no email to
have it changed to sending email to your accounts so we can reach
more people this way and reach you. Also, our web site at
http://www.voipwx. <http://www.voipwx.net> net serves as another way to
monitor our plans for
activation and tropical systems as they threaten.

I realize that in the past the email list have had some inappropriate
discussions that caused people to leave the list or go to the no
email option. We have several moderators and if such inappropriate
discussions occur again, within 24-48 hours, we will move the email
list to moderation to prevent that from becoming a distraction. We
may announce this or do this unannounced at our discretion so that
the email list and the discussions are reasonable and informative to
those on this list. We hope that with this assurance folks will take
in the emails so we can push important messages to folks particularly
to those in hurricane prone areas that could be affected by
landfalling systems where we could use their support and reporting
and we, in turn, can help them as best as we can through the
situation.

Below is the WX4NHC Communications Test Announcement. We encourage
all stations to participate particularly those stations in hurricane
prone areas along the US Coast as well as Central America, Mexico,
and the Caribbean:

The VoIP Hurricane Net will be supporting the WX4NHC Communications
Test scheduled for Saturday May 31st from 9 AM-5 PM EDT. WX4NHC will
be on the VoIP Hurricane Net *WX-TALK* Node: 7203/IRLP 9219 reflector
system from 1-3 PM EDT (1700-1900 UTC) Saturday.

We would like to encourage all licensed Radio Amateurs to participate
in this Communications Test and attempt to contact WX4NHC on HF and
also make contact when they are on the *WX-TALK* Node: 7203/IRLP 9219
reflector system. Below is the announcement just issued by Julio
Ripoll-WD4R, Assistant WX4NHC Coordinator:
