Mr. Ernie,

We've spoken once or twice by the LARC repeater, I hope all is well. We are
putting on the Red Cross "Emergency Response" class in late August/September
at the Winter Haven chapter of the Red Cross. I wanted to pass this along in
case any of your members are interested in some advanced medical responder
skills. I've included the information about the course below.

-Jason Cochran, KG4KLV

Emergency Response - 56 hours

This 56-contact hour course is based on the National Standard Curriculum for
Medical First Responder established by the Federal Department of
Transportation. This is the entry-level course for most EMS programs. You
will learn how to recognize signs of emergency situations including common
medical problems, perform CPR, use an AED (defibrillator), perform advanced
first aid, learn about the EMS system, take a blood pressure, assess vital
signs, assist in emergency childbirth situations, and much more! You will
learn the skills necessary to assess an emergency medical situation and
provide first care until help arrives. In some jurisdictions, you may work
on an ambulance with this certification.

All books and materials are provided. This course meets Mondays and
Wednesdays from August 24, 2009 through September 30, 2009 at the American
Red Cross offices in Winter Haven. One Saturday class is required for CPR.
This course has no prerequisites. Participants will also be certified in CPR
during this course.
