My guess is there are many of similar sites lurking on the web. For sure, mashups have great potential. I believe I mentioned mapping the local repeaters. That information might be of interest to hams in the area. I've been told their locations are secret, but I rather suspect they are a matter of public record, somewhere. I made a change to the blog. I've been able to get the map to load more reliably, provided of course I wait for everything else to load before clicking on club members. Like most erratic problems, you are never quite sure. I would like to know if this works for you. The fix, if it is one, is not very elegant. :-) Let me know. Also, Bill KJ4IAI suggested that clicking on More on a specific call sigh, bring you directly to QRZ without cutting and pasting the call letters. This is doable, with a little more work. I set Ernie's to go to his QRZ location automatically, and mine to my personal web page automatically. It works. Now it is just a matter of grunt work. Displaying first name along with call might also be nice. I wanted to extend a couple invitations to you and members of your club regarding Depiction mapping software, which you might have seen profiled in the November issue of QST regarding its uses in emcomm. We're going to have a booth at the Tampa Bay Hamfest this weekend, so I'd like to invite you to stop by and chat with David Friedman, KE7GOY, who will be manning the booth. David is a Depiction user who has used the software during to support his emcomm activities Hurricanes Ike & Gustav, wildfires in California, various winter disasters in the Pacific Northwest, and in other situations. He may also be hosting an informal after-hours informational session for people who want to learn more. Also, if you'd like to learn more about Depiction before the Hamfest, I'd like to invite you and anyone you know who may be interested to a free webinar tomorrow at 1 PM EST. David, and Depiction's Kim Buike, a retired Navy captain, will give an overview of Depiction's uses in emcomm. You can access the webinar here: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/766612457 If you can't make it tomorrow, that webinar is part of a series-the calendar is here: http://www.depiction.com/webinars/amateur-radio/calendar Feel free to pass this note along to anyone who you think might find it interesting, and let me know if you have any questions. If you are on the list, but your marker is not exact, and you would like to have it moved we are going to have to chat. Although Google addresses are approximate, markers can be moved. Moving a marker is not hard, determining where to move it is another issue. However, I am sure we can work out a solution one on one. You can contact me at billkodak at verizon.net, or by phone, 853-8543. Wishing all of you peace and success, Bill, KI4ZMV -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I was wonder if any one had any suggestions on an swr bridge or meter for my FT-8800R radio. I am having trouble reaching the repeater since I moved the unit into my house and put antenna on roof. I suspect it's a loose connection. Do you thin the Diamon SX40C will work. I'm trying to stay away from MFJ, I read a lot of bad stuff about their meters. http://www.rfparts.com/diamond/sx40c.html Thanks Eric -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
