Just an FYI! There is an above normal chance for severe weather today in the 
form of torrential rainfall (>2" per hour), large hail (>.88") and straight 
line wind gusts of 60 mph+. The worst of the weather should be inland and 
then along the east side of the peninsula during the late afternoon.

With cold air (-11 deg. C) at the mid levels (18,000 feet) of the atmosphere 
lot's of numerous close lightning strikes are probable. So ground those 
antennas!

Unfortunately I'm leaving for Gainesville at 9:00 am this morning for 
medical treatment so will have to drive through the bad weather.

Back in mid May I said, "A second path for dry air would be when the hot and 
dry Sonoran high pressure system that is normally over the SW U.S. and 
Mexico shifts eastward over Florida."

Well that scenario is now coming into fruition. Beginning tomorrow and 
lasting at least through Friday the 12th the rainy season will be snuffed 
out and replaced by maximum temperatures in the mid to upper 90's.

By the beginning of June the polar jet stream mean position is along
the U.S./Canada border. Cold fronts and trailing polar high pressure centers
move across New England and then out into the Atlantic Ocean. The polar
high's merge with the semi-permanent Bermuda high's and the dry air moves
into Florida from the NE.

A second path for dry air would be when the hot and dry Sonoran high
pressure system that is normally over the SW U.S. and Mexico shifts eastward
over Florida.

On Monday a new solar cycle 24 sunspot group emerged in the NE quadrant of the Sun at N22E07. NOAA/SWPC assigned it #11020. It has a beta magnetic signature and is capable of producing B class solar flares. The down side is that the sunspot group appears to be short lived, as most solar cycle 24 sunspot groups have been.

Hi folks,

The time has come for me to pass the Net Manager torch to someone new. 
The change in net time from 19:30 to 19:00 is conflicting with my
personal obligations to the point where I can't reliably join, host, or
cover as Net Control Operator (N.C.O.) should a scheduled N.C.O. become
otherwise unavailable.  Consequently, I would like to solicit the group
for a replacement Net Manager for the weekly LARC 2m & Traders Net. 
Going forward, I can still maintain the N.C.O. calendar/schedule on the
LARC web site via email updates from the Net Manager, or I can create a
calendar database here on the Yahoo group (same as we have for the VE
sessions).  If you would be interested in taking over this
responsibility then please contact me directly via email

It looks as though I will miss our 2 meter radio net again due to bad 
weather. I had quite a blow here on the south side of Lakeland. At 4:06 pm 
the wind gusted to 59 mph from the NNE and I have picked up 1.26" of rain so 
far.

Glad to help with your PSK31. My 1st question is how are you using your 
mic for PSK31? For starters I suggest that you look at the Signalink USB 
interface at http://www.tigertronics.com/slusbmain.htm
Woks great and allows for most data modes. Please reply direct to me so 
that I can go direct to your email.

Jim,

Thank you for getting back. I've read about the Tigertronics package. There is also a cable option, but I hear this might be problematic with the icom 7000. I'm told for reliable operation a relay has to be installed in addition to the switching transistor. It is my understanding that the Tigertronics eliminates all this fuss. Is the latter the one you use and recommend? 

I don't remember seeing this unit in your demo. There was a lot going on, and I could have easily missed it. I seem to remember some cables and a part from Radio Shack. I would still like to chat about how you do PSK31 and any other digital modes you use. 

I will see Ernie and Mike this morning at the VE session. I will pick their brains too.

At 4:00 pm EDT with virtually no convective clouds (cumulus) visible, the 
temperature approaching 100 deg. F and heat index surpassing 112 deg. F, 
strong to severe thunderstorms may erupt during the evening hours across the 
inland and west central peninsula region.

Strong to severe storms are also possible on Tuesday, with a wet and stormy 
weather pattern shaping up for the next seven days. The worst of the recent 
heat wave will wane during the next 48 hours.

Speaking of heat the panhandle north and non peninsula north regions 
surpassed 100 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Here are some examples.

The 8:00 am EDT NWS Tampa Bay (KTBW) radiosonde launch found a (PW) 
precipitable water of 1.94", a (LI) lifted index of -10 deg. C, which is 
extremely unstable and an (MPDI) Microburst-Day Potential Index of +1.4, 
which means allot dry mid level air.

This ads up to a probability of severe weather to include rainfall rates of 
 >2" per hour, down bursting straight line winds in excess of 60 mph and 
large damaging hail to 1" in diameter. Isolated tornadoes are also possible 
where sea breeze and outflow boundaries collide.

Lightning is not considered as a severe weather parameter but with a 500 mb 
temperature of -10 deg. C, excessive numbers of lightning strikes are 
probable.

Movement of storms will be from the NNW to SSE.

Hi Ernie I hope all is well with you. I want to apologize for my lack of
participation in the club activities as of late.

I am a 100% rated disabled veteran and my wife and adult daughter are also
disabled. Recent medical appointments for all three of us has interfered
with my club participation. I go through cycles where I'm feeling pretty
good then cycles where I'm feeling pretty bad and am currently in one of the
bad cycles.

I was aware of LARC going back to the late 1990's but didn't join because of
the health issues. For the foreseeable future we will be getting treatment
in Gainesville on Saturday's so will not be available for VE duties and
Field Day.

Hopefully I will be able to make the next club meeting in July.

Hi Thomas,

Some folks don't check their email on a daily basis, and other folks whose
arrl.net email forward to a restrictive ISP that is implementing draconian
SPAM filtering could also prevent your message from reaching it's
destination.  There are so many reasons for a delivery failure that I can
barely enumerate them, but it does highlight that email should *NOT* be
considered a bulletproof method of communication and if you don't get a
response from one or two messages then a quick phone call will resolve
nearly any issue.  For some reason, the Internet-using population has a
belief that email has some intrinsic guarantee of delivery and while it's
true that you can request delivery and read receipts for email, those
options typically aren't on my default.  Even so, you don't know that the
recipient hasn't gone out of town on vacation, had their computer stolen,
lost their Internet access via a rogue backhoe, etc.

I am sad to hear that you won't be at Field Day and equally sad to become
aware of your medical conditions that have prevented you from enjoying the
hobby and club.  I would implore you not to be hasty in ceasing your LARC
membership over something as trivial as email miscommunication, and to that
end I will also be following up with a phone call to you since I do not
depend on email for critical communications.

Please reconsider your decision to part ways with the LARC as I know it
would be a great loss for the club.  I can't pretend to know how you value
the club, but I do know that I value YOUR contributions to the club and we
are better off with you here.

Thomas, Now that this has made it in the open for all to read on the yahoo group I and many?more emails are going to start coming your way to stop you from making the choice of leaving LARC. Now I don't know the real reason you would choice to leave LARC and that isn't my business nor will I try to get that out of you.
But I will tell a story. My ex-wife and I thought at one time leaving LARC too do to an Ex LARC Prez. We were taked out of it and I for one am glad I didn't walk away.
We all have our days good and bad.
You worked very hard to become a Ham and joining LARC you know you made a lot of good friends, some of I'm sure you don't want to out of your life now.
I feel at times what good am I for the club now, I have no car, I haven't been to a club meeting or club event all this year. I'm missing out on Feild Day this year for not having a way out there. And that bout kills me. I have been to the last 3 of them sence I became a ham in dec 05. I have a blast at each one of them.
Now I used the reason of no car, but I could still jump a city bus in the moring and be out there. So that leave me to my next and biggest reason I'm not able to make club meetings and events. I have a 25 year old handicapp son living with me and I have tryed taking him to club meetings and events, but he is a distraction to the club, that hurts me in many of ways. but I will not leave the club. now back to my first reason, this is why I'm giving my time to be net controler one week each month for the year.
So from what little I do know from reading the emails on the yahoo group I ask for you not to leave LARC over a couple of unanswer emails. Mike/KT2T in his email to you explains a lot of reason the emails may have gone unanswered.
Erine/KG4YNI is a very busy guy but I know he trys to help and answer any and all things that come his way.
Please give him another email or a?phone call and I'm sure you two can work out any misunderstanding or lost contacts with one other.
Let me try to answer your question?on what time for saturday feild day.
You may show up at anytime to help out and your help will be more then gladly.
I showed up last year at?5:30am and the show starts at 2:pm.
Please go and have FUN FUN FUN ?

Good morning one and all,

Not to kick in the GET READY alarm, but I along with
several other people, have been mauling over storm 93L
for some sort of before action preparedness.

Some if not all of the usual blog sites have mixed thoughts
on what this storm is going to do once it passes the
Yucatan Peninsula. Right now, Hurricane Hunter Aircraft
are slatted to go visit this storm on Sunday. NHC is calling
a possible path towards Florida when it makes a motional turn
towards the East North East around Wednesday, with a week
long track to July 5 with it estimated to be near the
Florida Gulf Coast Line within 100 miles of the Tampa Bay
Area.

*LET ME STATE, this is 12 days out and NO "CONE OF PROBABILITIES"
has been established, again, NO STRIKE ZONES ARE BEING CALLED AT
THIS TIME. THINGS CHANGE AND PROBABLY WILL CHANGE EACH DAY.

ALL INTERESTS FROM TEXAS TO THE FLA KEYS NEEDS TO MONITOR THIS
SYSTEM! If it does take a turn towards the East, then obviously
Florida is going to be the grounds for action.

Once this storm enters into the Gulf, the chances of it ramping
up are good (60 percent chance of it becoming TS ANA) which
means ANA will be the first NAMED STORM of the season.
**THAT IS IF IT SURVIVES THE YUCATAN AREA!**

SO, with this in mind, I ask everyone to enjoy their July 4th weekend
as I will be in North Carolina on Vacation for the weekend and
returning July 6th, and hopefully I will not be coming into
a weak Cat 1 or Heavy TS ANA....

Chow for now, but keep your ears open for further developments.
