'Can' you imagine the deep doo-doo that the members of the Kathleen High School Amateur Radio Club were in when the school administration found eight cases of empty beer cans in our club shack?  <g>

  I do remember steel cans and cheap solder. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, the instructions that came with the first beer can antenna I read about suggested that you leave the cigarette butts in the can to help absorb excess moisture. :-) Times have sure changed.

    Perhaps no one remembers when solder was cheap & beer came in steel 
    cans... the club used to sit around emptying segments of the newest 40 
    meter "beer can" vertical... I personally participated in building 
    several of those.... They actually worked..
