I was told NO ONE picked up the net for me and that is a real shame. Net control shouldn't be left on just a few. The Club needs more net control's as we all know this. I would like to request a training on Net Control Operator for a near Club meeting event. 73 George KI4NBE From gwmann at verizon.net Fri Jul 1 06:13:12 2011 From: gwmann at verizon.net (george mann) Date: Fri, 01 Jul 2011 09:13:12 -0400 Subject: [LakelandARC] LARC Net ( 6-30-11) In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <79311CF879BF418E84E43765361D2C21@JOANS> Might we ask the club members to determine what they would like to learn? Net control training would be interesting to quite a few of folks. Maybe we could hold a simulated net for those who have never heard the net. Also a little National Traffic System training might also be useful. Some of you folks who check into Southcars or another service net might want to share some info about a particular net. New hams might not know that nets are a major radio activity. Nets of all types are a great learning opportunity. Now, some of you will wonder why I, who seldom checks in to the net, I am making this recommendation. I have a conflict on net night. I do think the net serves an important function by enhancing the brother/sisterhood of the local ham community. 73 de George KJ4UW _____ From: LakelandARC at yahoogroups.com [mailto:LakelandARC at yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of George Sent: Friday, July 01, 2011 5:10 AM To: LakelandARC at yahoogroups.com Subject: [LakelandARC] LARC Net ( 6-30-11) I would like to Apologize to the Club for having to run out at the last minute and not being able to do the net. If so, what are your opinions of it? Since I carry around a computer pretty much everywhere I am operating radio anyway, this seems to be far more capable and far less bulky than my MFJ (though I would lose 440 tuning). Message-ID: Hello everyone, You are all invited to this Sunday's QRP Gathering at Mary Holland Park in Bartow. The date for this event was chosen so that it would coincide with the "Flight of the Bumblebees" event, put on by the Adventure Radio Society. This should give us all a very good chance to make many QRP contacts and a good time for all. What is the FOBB??? Here's the link: http://adventure-radio.org/wiki/index.php?title=Flight_of_the_Bumblebees We're expecting participants from Orlando, Lake Wales, and Lakeland. The children and myself will be getting to the park around 8 a.m. and will be bringing 2 dozen or so hot dogs and buns. Hope to see you all there, Ren KG4BAS From pwomble at tampabay.rr.com Wed Jul 27 19:30:06 2011 From: pwomble at tampabay.rr.com (Paul Womble) Date: Wed, 27 Jul 2011 22:30:06 -0400 Subject: [LakelandARC] Reminder- QRP Gathering this weekend....
