All hours spent in amateur radio activities count as training. Reading, checking into nets, building antennas, and scanning the frequencies are all examples of time counted for training. I will count the time spent at our monthly meeting and time spent on our net. Do not add those activities to your time entered. I need the hours entered by August 4th. Looking for a dedicated Operator for the Special Needs Shelter at Ridge Community High School. We are preparing to mount an antenna and would like a person willing to donate time for their community to be a part of the process. Please contact me if you can give of yourself. 73 -- Robin Retzloff AF1RE Polk County ARES Emergency Coordinator 407-421-8422 cell 863-648-2381 home AF1RE at ARRL.net -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Officers and the Board of your radio club are proposing changes to our Bylaws for the purpose of receiving the 501(C)3 status from the IRS. The link for the changed Bylaws is: http://lakelandarc.org/larc_bylaws_2013.htm The current Bylaws are at: http://lakelandarc.org/larc_bylaws_2006.htm Please review the changes and be prepared to vote for or against the changes. We will be voting at our next meeting, September 2nd, 2013. If you have any questions or concerns about the changes, please let us know. See you on Labor Day! You speak of Mars looking "as large as the full moon to the naked eye". To me, this sounds as if Mars would have an apparent diameter. I don't think there is ever a time that Mars (or Venus) would be so close to Earth as to have an apparent diameter, and not just be visible as a point source. This is spoken of as subtending an angle. The Moon subtends an angle (appears to occupy a finite amount of space in the sky) of from 0.51 to 0.54 degrees (32 arcminutes) (depending on distance from earth). The stars and planets appear to the naked eye observer as a point source, a bright object with no size. Mars never gets close enough to earth to appear as a disc without aid of a telescope. 73 Bob ---- ki4nbe at yahoo.com wrote: Dear all, Two moons on 27th August ..27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for....
