Stephanie KK4RAH came through her surgery very well, and her doctors believe that there will be no need for either chemo or radiation. Please join the board in wishing Stephanie a speedy recovery. Next, we have added three new hams to the fold. Check the blog for a picture and their new call signs. http://lakelandarc.blogspot.com If you were at this months meeting you know what a fine job Andrew did with his presentation on radio navigation. If you missed this, or would like to review it, there is a copy on the blog. Make sure you double click one of the slides to get a more readable size. Finally, Don KI4EFL has been a busy lad this month. He is pictured on the blog with a few of the attendees to his first Technician training class. Another is scheduled for later this month. Also this month, Don was presented with a sixty-year award for service in the Masons. This is quite an achievement. There is a photo of Don receiving his award on the blog. Not shown is a photo of Don in the hospital. Earlier in the month he had an "event" during a stress test resulting in his receiving a couple of stints. Oh, and he and Norma had a birthdays that month too. Told you he was busy. :-) Bill KI4ZMV -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <030c01ceae96$8c04b810$a40e2830$@verizon.net> Good Evening, I am not sure who all is still around from days gone by, but the supplemental answer to the question is the following information; It was during the 2003 through 2008 or 2009 time frame, that it was placed that an LPD ham station would use K4LKL during emergencies or Public Events in the spirit of Ham Radio. The Trustee at that time was Paul Womble, whom was also the EC for Polk ARES, before moving to Manatee County and working for the County EM. Richard Sharp, now trustee of K4LKL, has kept that same status in the way of operations. It has not been a DOCUMENTED thing, but I believe at one living time, it was in the by-laws of LARC. DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS, I was only a guest for a few years when I was ARES EC, and that was carried through from the past to the present, the use of the K4LKL call sign during EOC activations. Short Form, through the Trustee, the use of K4LKL is governed by LARC, and overseen by Richard Sharp; KQ4KX. Emergency use of the station at LPD was to be as K4LKL, but all other times, the Operator at the mic is responsible for id'ing as themselves, and the identical goes for the WC4PEM call sign, which too is for Emergency use or at the EOC during activation or Public Events. To obtain true and correct information, Richard Sharp would be the person to contact. Jim is correct in his information as well. This information is to help others understand about the LPD Ham Station, that is maintained by LARC. Evans F. First, the really great news! Stephanie KK4RAH came through her surgery very well, and her doctors believe that there will be no need for either chemo or radiation. Please join the board in wishing Stephanie a speedy recovery. ? Next, we have added three new hams to the fold. Check the blog for a picture and their new call signs. http://lakelandarc.blogspot.com? ? If you were at this months meeting you know what a fine job Andrew did with his presentation on radio navigation. If you missed this, or would like to review it, there is a copy on the blog. Make sure you double click one of the slides to get a more readable size. ? Finally, Don KI4EFL has been a busy lad this month. He is pictured on the blog with a few of the attendees to his first Technician training class. Another is scheduled for later this month. ? Also this month, Don was presented with a sixty-year award for service in the Masons. This is quite an achievement. There is a photo of Don receiving his award on the blog. ? Not shown is a photo of Don in the hospital. Earlier in the month he had an "event" during a stress test resulting in his receiving a couple of stints. Oh, and he and Norma? had a birthdays that month too. Told you he was busy.? :-) ? Bill KI4ZMV ? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
