They started their trip this morning and they all met in Miami to catch their flight South. I met with Dan, WZ1P, our LARC Thursday night net control station and Steve, WG0AT, at the Buddipole booth at Hamcation this last weekend. They will be on the air during the below listed days. Team members will operate several 100 watt CW, SSB, and/or Digital Mode stations on 80-10 Meters using Buddipole antennas. QSL via LOTW or direct to the home call of the operator worked. "Buddies in the Caribbean" 2/10/2014 ? 2/18/2014 Zone: 8 Bequia Island (NA-025) The "Buddies in the Caribbean" group members are Dan/WZ1P, Budd/W3FF, Mike/KC4VG, Chris/W6HFP, Bill/W7ZT, Wey/K8EAB, Paul/KB9AVO and Steve/WG0AT. We will meet at the EOC at 6pm. You can find directions and further information about Polk County ARES at www.PolkARES.org . The recent Skywarn Net activation will be discussed as we are looking for feedback to improve our response. The Skywarn program is in development by Andrew, WX4AMS, and Steve, W4XDS. Andew has put together net scripts and a Skywarn Guidelines Manual. Input from our volunteers is essential for quality improvement. There will be an SET, Simulated Emergency Test, on March 22nd at 10am until noon. Highlands, Hardee, and Polk Counties will be cooperating in this training. EOC, Net Control, Hospital, and Shelter Stations are to be activated if we have the participation to do so. We will organize our response to the training at this meeting. I will be on the road at the end of the month. Please enter your training hours by following the link at the top of the Training page at www.PolkARES.org . This will be your hours for February. IC100, IC200, IC700, and IC802 is also available on the Training page. I would encourage those interested in working at the EOC during an activation to complete this training. We have Web EOC training coming up soon. That would completed the needed training to begin working at the EOC. EOC Operators are needed. If you are interested in the WebEOC course, contact me and I will forward you the training opportunities. Thank you for volunteering your time and effort.
