If you were at the club meeting last night, then you already know that we
have announced the Florida State Parks on the Air contest, to take place
next April! Thanks to Kevin N4KWR, Rich N4ESS, and Mike KK4UGD for all
their help in making this event a reality.

We'll be using a QSO party format, but with State Parks instead of
counties. There's also a Worked/Activated all Parks Awards program (which
can be earned all year long, not just on the contest date). This event is
intended to bring awareness to Florida's award winning state parks system,
while also encouraging amateur radio operators to get out and make some
contacts in the great outdoors.

the site in upcoming weeks, including N1MM contest files, and a Worked all
Parks logsheet. You can check http://flspota.org/news/, and also register
with our Yahoo group at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/flspota/info

contacted me about adding support for the contest to the SD logging

Hello EVERYONE!!

The time is near for Field Day 2016!!

Our plans for this year are very similar to the past few years.  We plan
on having
food available from setup on Saturday to breakfast on Sunday.

As we have in the past, we request that all members bring a dish to share
with everyone
for our Saturday dinner at 6pm.  In the past few years, we have shared a
wonderful
"spread" from salads to cakes, baked beans to cookies!  The Club will be
providing
the hamburgers and hot dogs and all of the condiments.

Please remember to furnish your own drinks.  The Club will provide water
and coffee.

Reminders and updates will be sent out during the week.

We need Radio Operators at the EOC for Field Day. Our goal this year is to
keep the transmitter operating for the full 24 hours. I am out of state
recovering from unplanned knee surgery and will not be at the EOC. It will
be opened before the 2pm start time and our plan is to have two HF radios
and one vhf and above radio. Paul is working on networking the logging
software so there will be no duplicates while operating the stations. I am
setting up an Operators schedule for the 24 hours. Please contact me with
times you are willing to donate to working our transmitter. There will be
one Operator scheduled per hour and we need to cover the 24 hour period.

I am writing to you today because we are at a critical juncture in our efforts to obtain passage of The Amateur Radio Parity Act in the U.S. Senate (S.1685).

Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL), is not yet supporting the legislation despite the recent agreement between ARRL and the Community Associations Institute (CAI). This agreement is supported by all parties to the issue and leaves no visible opposition to the bill. 
However, Senator Nelson?s support is critical to the success of our efforts.

He is in the famous and somewhat secretive city of Star City, Russia. Doug has been with us many times and is always very informative and interesting as he talks about his missions in space and ham radio. Doug was very popular on ham radio aboard the ISS and made thousands of contacts with many of you. Doug will be getting up at 4:00 AM local Russian time to be with us live on the show. Among other things, It going to be pretty warm and Fans will be 
essential. I expect that management has this covered, but if you have

The 13 Colonies Special Event Gets Under Way on July 1





The eighth annual 13 Colonies Special Event takes place from 1300 UTC on July 1 until 0400 UTC on July 7. Stations working the special event station in at least one of the original 13 states -- or all 15 participating stations -- will be eligible for a certificate. A Liberty Bell endorsement will be attached for stations contacting sister special event station WM3PEN, in Philadelphia, where independence was declared. Returning this year is a second sister station, GB13COL in Durham, England.





Stations will be on the air from each of the original 13 colonies: Connecticut (K2D), Delaware (K2E), Georgia (K2G), Massachusetts (K2H), Maryland (K2F), North Carolina (K2J), New Hampshire (K2K), New Jersey (K2I), New York (K2A), Pennsylvania (K2M), Rhode Island (K2C), South Carolina (K2L), and Virginia (K2B).
