If anyone's interested (and your antennas are still standing after the storm... :), we can start around 9pm this evening. Once again in the low end of the tech band, 28.303-6 or so. I'll jump on the repeater a few minutes before and we can coordinate on the frequency.

Yes,  I won't have the 706 up yet.  I need to see you Monday w/ a bad mic adapter Matthew. Hope you can pay w/ it and get it working.  I will be the 7200 if I can get the antenna switched out to the Vertical.  as the "Wire" in not the best option for Local 10.  Thanks for the heads up.

I'll try to check in as well, though the only thing i have available is an end-fed 1/2wave for 20m - that should radiate darn near vertically on 10m, assuming that the tuner will load it up at all.

I'm thinking of getting a new radio to handle system fusion. I know some others are as well as I heard on the net Thursday night.
I'm going back and forth between the FT-2DR and the FTM-100DR. I have a 7900 as my base but I'm thinking of replacing my Chinese HT with the FT-2DR.....
I'm looking for some advice on which way I should go.
Also, when is the repeater being switched over? Or has it been done yet?

Roger,
i suggest going for the ftm 400. its a true duel band radio. all the bells and whistles. the handheld is nice but really its an expensive handheld.the 400= 50 watts on both bands.
if you dont want to spend the extra $$ on the 400 then go with the 100.

Roger, if you want to look at an FT2D I'll bring mine to the meeting Monday. I don't have any hands on experience with the 100, but I believe it does everything the 400 does, with the exception of some stuff that depends on the color screen.

The repeater will be switched over the first part of this month, after the meeting.

Well, that was a letdown... Went out at 5 til 9, and had a sky-high SWR on my antenna. Spent the next half hour taking everything apart and checking it out. No obvious problems, and when I put everything back together it worked ok. I'm guessing it was a loose connection at the lightning arrestor outside.

Lee N4HES and I talked for a little while at around 9:30, don't know if anyone else was on earlier?

Moral of the story: check things out ahead of time :)

LARC Repeater Status

 

K4LKL/R, the Lakeland Amateur Radio Club, LARC, Fusion repeater, is now up
and running with full digital and analog capabilities.  Those of you that
are using digital it is ready to use.  Those of you that are using analog FM
then the only thing that has changed is the addition of CTCSS activation on
your receive as well as transmit side to take away the digital noises.
Both digital and analog users should monitor their receive lights on their
rigs to tell if the frequency is already in use.  Digital users can see the
channel busy light and hit MON button to hear any other voice transmissions.
Digital users can use a few different settings to handle this task such as
AMS, Automatic Mode Select. Those of you in FM can also use your receive
light for frequency use and MON button to listen for what will sound like a
buzzing on the frequency.  That is the digital voice transmissions.
Whichever mode you are using the repeater will switch to that function
automatically.  FM in FM out and Digital in Digital out. 

 

This is a quick generalization of the repeater functions as they stand now.

I was in Jacksonville, Friday night. I will be attending a Church function, every Friday night, for the next nine weeks. Will probably get home by nine. So, I should be able to make the 10M net. The only conflict, over the next few weeks is the Melbourne Hamfest. 

As to Fusion, I purchased the FT 991 primarily to use as an Intermediate Frequency for my 10 GHz transverter. When it is not being used, for 10 GHz work - which is most of the time - I will have it in the hamshack, scanning the various Central Florida Fusion repeaters and 145.61 Fusion Simplex. Yes, the GM function, which only works on simplex, is neat. Just punch GM and look at the radio, a minute or so, later and see who is on. When a callsign pops up, on the screen, I turn GM off. If you leave GM turned on, unattended, it would interfere with a conversation.

Well. There is a reason that they put that nice reminder app on the iPhone....without it I wouldn't remember anything. Like the fact that I was supposed to get on 10m at 9 o clock. I apologize....got busy with some non-radio related stuff, just looked down and realized what time it was.

Putting it on the calendar right now for next week :)
