Guest Speaker October 3rd Dr. Bob Chapman on Savants

 This is a heads up on a very special meeting coming up, October 3rd. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Robert “Bob” Chapman who will speak on savantism. If you have seen the movie Rain Man, or watched one of several 60 Minutes Programs on this subject, you will have some idea how fascinating savants can be.

Dr. Robert “Bob” Chapman
College: Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, 1971
Graduate School Rutgers University Psychology, 1971-7 with M.S. and Ph.D.. Won Bevier Fellowship as top Rutgers graduate student.
M.D.: University of Miami in unique 2 year program, 1977-79
Internship and Residency, University of Miami 1979-82
Served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, 1982-83
Asst. Professor of Medicine U. Miami 1983-1985
Joined Watson Clinic in 1985 in Internal Medicine
Positions while at Watson Clinic included Medical Director followed by election as CEO, President Watson Clinic Foundation, LVIM Board
Also served as Staff President at Lakeland Regional Medical Center
President Polk County Medical Association, President We Care
Moved to Capital Health Plan in Tallahassee 2006 working in Center for Chronic Care providing care for sickest 1% of the patient population, and later internal medical consultant for other primary care physicians. Was Vice President of Medical Staff, Board member of Capital Medical Society before retiring in 2014.
Currently volunteer at Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine.
