Good evening all,
We are really excited to be involved in the Music City Solar Eclipse
Festival, and to be able to work everyone over the state line to bring
Amateur Radio communications to the public!
A few things about the Amateur Radio activities that will be taking
place at the Adventure Science Center.... Special Event call N4E -
Nashville 4 Eclipse will be operating on Saturday August 19 through
Monday August 21.
- In addition to the ARRL representation from Nashville and Davidson
County ARES, we have members of Williamson County ARES and the Marshall
County Amateur Radio Society who will be helping out at the booth.
- We will be using HF and UHF/VHF equipment provided on loan from the
American Red Cross, Nashville Chapter for our communications.
- Members of Davidson County ARES, Nashville Amateur Radio Club, Dickson
County ARC and other independent local operators will be listening for
local traffic from our special event station, so there will be folks on
the air to answer the calls to make a contact.
- We will be using the MTEARS linked Repeater systems (32 repeaters
across TN) for UHF/VHF communications, as well as the Williamson County
ARES Repeaters.
- We will be operating primarily on 20 and 40 meters, depending on
propagation. We will have two of each type of station set up (we will
have 2 HF and 2 Dual Band UHF/VHF radios). Frequency range TBD, but I
would like to ensure that those in the General License class will have
the opportunity to contact the special event station, so will most
likely will keep operations within their band plan. There are many other
eclipse special events "out there", so we need to be aware of where they
will be operating to avoid walking over each other.
- There will be either certificates or QSL cards (TBD) distributed for
contacts requesting them.
Please feel free to contact me with info about your events - what is
planned, where you would like to coordinate, and I will be happy to work
with you. Evenings are the best to contact me, as I'm quite old enough
to retire, and my day job keeps me hopping!
