It looks like we're losing our Section Manager, Darrell Davis KT4WX :( Please see the text below from Southeast Division Director Mickey Baker, N4MB regarding nominations for a new SM. Nominations close Friday, September 4!

"Hello, West Central Florida Section ARRL Members! This is a reminder that nominations are WILL CLOSE for Section Manager of your ARRL section at 4 PM EDT, Friday, September 4th. This is to replace Darrell Davis, KT4WX, who, as of today, is not running for re-election. Signatures MUST be RECEIVED at ARRL HQ by 4:00 pm, Friday, September 4, 2020 - this upcoming Friday. If you're considering running for this position, you can submit your petition signatures via email. Be sure to read this article referenced in the link below and use an official nomination form. Here?s an excellent explanation behind the probable fees for Amateur Radio licensees.  This synopsis was created by a fellow Ham (misplaced name and call) and sent to me by Brian (KB9BVN), the webmaster of QRPARCI.

It would appear that Congress is the culprit here NOT the FCC........ it will take an act of one to keep it from happening probably.

Unless we can get a waiver because of the actual benefits we give to the FCC and the general public it appears to be a certain change in the fees.

Hi, all.

It seems there may be some confusion with how this list works.

Anytime you send a message to this group, it goes to everyone on the list.

Also, if you reply to a message, it goes to everyone on the list.

Consequently, if you're trying to reach an individual, this may not be the best vehicle as everything goes to the collective group.

Case in point...a message was sent today where the sender wanted feedback from someone, but it's not clear for whom the message was intended so the requested feedback may or may not happen.

This list is here for everyone to use to interact with each other and to share information. Just be aware of how it works if you're trying to reach someone specific.

The Hamfest was to be on September 26, 2020 at the Gunn Hwy Flea Market.
Gunn Hwy Flea Market was sold and is now closed.

No news so far. My understanding was that he would be cremated and services
would be in his hometown in Ogdensburg, New York.

There is a new event being promoted for the 1st weekend in Oct.  Some of the key takeaways from this event are quite different from most others:

* Operate from QTH or Portable (Portable has multiplier)
* Low Power gets a handicap  multiplier based on mpw (miles per watt)
* This is a 48 hour event but you can only work (your choice) 8 hours
* Multipliers (2-1) for Mode: SSB-CW-Digital, in that order higher to lower
* Actual prizes from MFJ and Heil, probably others also

It looks like the sponsoring group is still working on the final details, see the website below to keep updated.

It sure sounds different.  Oddly the weekend selected is also the Peanut Power event which is a very popular QRP undertaking by the North Georgia QRP Group.

It's 80-10 and since it's all modes you are then limited by only your license class and equipment.? They may later come out with additional suggestions and rules.

Green Swamp QRPer
East Pasco County, Florida 

A new local QRP group has been formed in the East Pasco area, and as noted above the name is the Green Swamp QRPers.

The focus of the group is of course the use and promotion of QRP with emphasis on CW (from 5 wpm and up) and SSB while using simple wire antennas or other minimalist antennas. Acceptable power is: CW (5w or less), SSB (10w or less).... Digital has not been addressed at this time.

There are no special skills required to participate, just bring your own equipment and get on the air, enjoy the community of QRP and get some fresh air and maybe pick up or share some ideas. Show and tell is expected and is a constant component of any group QRP.

There are no organized meetings, no dues or ?secret handshakes?. Any ?business? that needs to be handled will take place at outings. There may be a breakfast before, snacks during or lunch after any outing but that needs to be discussed and decided as we grow.

It is not required that you join the NAQCC but you would be in great company as there are over 11,000 like minded members of this NO DUES club. Former home of the Dayton Hamvention being demolished

For those who don't know, the Dayton Hamvention is THE hamfest. Held every year (although not this year) in May, it is the largest event of it's kind in the country. The Hara Arena in Trotwood, Ohio, just outside of Dayton hosted Hamvention from 1964 until 2016, when it was announced that the arena would be closing and the event ?
