"Tampa Joe", 79, passed away peacefully last Friday after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Joe moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1972 from Savannah, GA and was a fixture in the marine industry here until his retirement. A <a href="http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/navy/?personid=175509751&affiliateID=1027" target="_blank" title="Visit Navy Memorial Site to see similar profiles" id="InlineMicrositeLink_Navy">US Navy</a> veteran, he served on the USS Lexington. He was an avid HAM radio operator (K4TJO), tinkerer, musician, community advocate, breakfast companion, and friend of Bill W. for 21 years. The latter was the proudest accomplishment of his later life. Joe is survived by his children, J A Booker (Stacie) and Lillian Nelson of St. Peters-burg; his grandchildren, Michael, and Kathryn Booker, and Jacob Nelson; and siblings, Ann Mackey, Randy Booker, and Steve Booker (Marie), all of Savannah. He was pre- deceased by his sister, Elfrieda Hendrix. His Southern charm, quick wit and willingness to "call it like he seen it" made him a trusted friend and powerful ally. A Memorial service will be held at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church on August 22nd at 2PM.</span></span><span style='font-size:10.5pt'><br><br><br><br></span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Religious Service Information<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-weight:normal'>Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church</span><br>3501 W San Jose St<br>Tampa, FL 33629<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-weight:normal'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-weight:normal'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";font-weight:normal'><img border=0 width=345 height=205 id="Picture_x0020_1" src="cid:image003.jpg@01D0D74B.FF8E4FA0" alt=KR4X-Business-Card></span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p></div></blockquote><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";font-weight:normal'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div></body></html>
