The 300Hz filters for CW are not available anywhere, but you can still find the 2300Hz filters if you work mainly SSB. These are getting more scarce every day, however. The addition of the mechanical filter improves the audio significantly. If you are going to travel with it, I think the Portable Zero "Escort" - a well-made, powder-coated frame - is an excellent investment to protect the knobs and dials on this radio. At 6 watts, it is great for QRP and you can add a solid-state amp to bump output up to 35-40 watts for under $300. (link below) I have used one in combination with my FT-817 for several years now.</div><div style="font-family: arial; font-size: 16px;"><br></div><div style="font-family: arial; font-size: 16px;">Having said all that, for about the same money, you can get an FT-891 w/ 100 watts 6-160 and some built-in filtering.
