....On Friday January 16, 2009 record shattering bitter Arctic air once again gripped the eastern 2/3's of the U.S. and Canada. 

The temperature dropped to:

-51 deg. F at La Grand Lii Su, QE,

-50 deg. F at Big Black River, ME,

-46 deg. F at Edmunston, NS,

-44 deg. F at Pokegama Lake, MN,

-42 deg. F at Island Pond, VT,

-40 deg. F at Hamilton, OH,

-39 deg. F at Berlin, NH,

-39 deg. F at Minong, WI,

-39 deg. F at Sudbury, ON,

-36 deg. F at Rochelle, IL,

-36 deg. F at Monticello, IA,

-35 deg. F at Paradox, NY,

-33 deg. F at Wahpeton, ND,

-24 deg. F at Milbank, SD,

-24 deg. F at Ashburnha. MA,

-22 deg. F at Argos, IN,

-21 deg. F at Lawton, PA,

-19 deg. F at Middle Fork, WV,

-18 deg. F at Jefferson, MO,

-13 deg. F at Mt Leconte, TN,

-12 deg. F at Mt. Mitchell, NC,

-11 deg. F at Allegany, MD

-6 deg. F at Covington, KY,

Florida escaped the coldest of the air with the temperature dipping to 26 deg. F at Tallahassee, FL. 

BTW the last time that the temperature dropped to +1 deg. F in Georgia it dropped to +2 deg. F at Chipley, FL.....
