*Tropical Storm Karen
**State Emergency Operations Center Level: 2**

*Current Situation:*

At 2:00 PM EDT, the center of Tropical Storm Karen was located about 430
miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Maximum sustained winds
are at 65 mph. Movement is toward the north-northwest at 12 mph. A
Hurricane Watch is in now effect along the Florida Panhandle coast from the
Florida/Alabama border east to Indian Pass, Florida.**

*State Actions:*

*•* The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) activated to a Level 2
(Partial) at 3:45 PM EDT.

• Initial staffing this evening will consist of Operations and Planning.

• Operations with the remaining sections, branches, and Emergency Support
Functions will begin at 8:00 AM EDT Friday.

• An EM Constellation Database titled "Karen" has been created for this
event.
