System Fusion

I'm thinking of getting a new radio to handle system fusion. I know some others are as well as I heard on the net Thursday night.
I'm going back and forth between the FT-2DR and the FTM-100DR. I have a 7900 as my base but I'm thinking of replacing my Chinese HT with the FT-2DR.....
I'm looking for some advice on which way I should go.
Also, when is the repeater being switched over? Or has it been done yet?
